Breast Pump Accessories - Bottles and Carrying Bags

Any woman can tell you that there are about a thousand accessories out there for breasts. Victoria’s Secret alone sells hundreds of products designed to enhance the support and appearance of these organs. However, many women may be surprised to discover that not all accessories are designed to turn on a man. There are several accessories made specifically for the use of breast-feeding mothers who use breast pumps. Examples are as follows:

Bottles - No breast pump is complete without bottles. How else will you feed your baby? Any good accessory store will stock bottles of varying sizes (because each baby eats a different amount).

Carrying bags - Like a diaper bag, a breast pump bag may be necessary. If your diaper bag is large enough, you may not need a separate accessory. Nonetheless, stores do offer these products. Most carrying bags are made to be stylish and look like a purse or backpack. They have room to hold the pump and bottles, along with any storage units you need.

Storage units - While you may not need a separate carrying bag for your breast pump accessories, getting a storage unit may be a wise purchase. These items are designed to insulate the milk you obtain so that it doesn’t go bad before the baby drinks it. These include freezer bags and freezer units. Some are just small sacs with ice packs installed, but they are very useful. There are also racks designed for easy storage in the refrigerator or freezer.

Nursing bras - Since breasts are swollen with milk while nursing, support is key. The right nursing bra can help you stay comfortable. It can also protect you from embarrassing leakage while you’re out and about.

Sterilization accessories - It’s always important that your breast pump and all other accessories stay clean. You don’t want to give any germs to your child. There are many steam sterilizers for baby bottles. You can also buy disinfectants to use on your breast pump, so you know you won’t get any germs in the milk.

Replacement parts - Breast pumps have to continually suck milk from you, and this repetitive action can wear down some parts. That doesn’t mean you need to buy a whole new pump, though. There are plenty of replacement parts available. Most are easy to install, too.

All of these accessories are designed to ensure that your baby has a fresh supply of milk available whenever he or she needs it. They help store and use the milk you obtain from your breast pump. Most of these accessories are compatible with any type of pump, too (replacement parts being the exception). It doesn’t matter if you use a manual or electronic pump, or what company you buy from.

Where can one find all of these things? Most breast pump companies also sell accessories. For example, Medela has plenty of accessories on its website. There are also other online stores, such as:

• Breast Pumps Direct (www.breastpumpsdirect.com/Breast_Pump_Accessories_s/5.html)
• Babytalk Store (www.mybreastpump.com)
• Baby Mania (www.breastfeedingaccessories.com)
