First Years Breast Pumps - Reviews, Parts and Accessories

Your baby’s first years are extremely important. Your little boy or girl grows up from a newborn into a walking, talking child, and the transformation is amazing. During this time, the baby will also move from breast-feeding to eating solid foods. However, the breast-feeding is probably the most important part of all.

In baby’s first years, breast milk provides nutrients and antibodies – and it’s the antibodies that are the crucial part. Antibodies can protect your child from infections. Any mother can agree that this is great. However, not all mothers can breast feed. Some have to work all day and leave their child with a babysitter. Some babies just have a problem latching on to the breast, so that form of feeding is impossible. In these cases, a breast pump is necessary.

A breast pump suctions the milk from the mother so that it can be stored in bags and bottles used to feed the child. There are many different types of pumps: manual vs. electric, one breast vs. two, hospital-grade vs. portable. And, there are many companies that produce these products. So, how is a mother supposed to choose which pump to use?

There is a company called First Years Breast Pumps that provides products for new moms. The following is a review of these products so that you can choose if this product is right for you.

The Products

The Mi Pump – The Mi Pump is an electric breast pump. This product has adjustable suction and cycling times, so you can customize it for your comfort. You can plug it into the wall when in use; batteries are not necessary. It’s relatively small (11 pounds), so you can tote it around if need be.

First Years Easy Comfort Manual – This pump is not electric; it works via manual labor. Every mother must pump the milk from her own breast. Suction strength is adjustable, but speed is not. It is smaller, though, so it can be carried around.

First Years Easy Comfort Double – This pump is electric and it pumps from both breasts at once. It is small enough to tote around. Suction strength is adjustable, but speed is not.

First Years Natural Comfort – This pump comes in a single or double. It is the smallest of the line, weighing in at less than five pounds, so it is the most portable. It only has one speed, though. It runs on electric power from an AC adapter or batteries.

Customer Reviews

The product description is not the only thing to consider when buying a pump. Since there are so many options, you could make the wrong choice if you just use the label to judge. The best approach is to read customer reviews. There are plenty of them at the following websites:

• Breast Pump Comparisons (http://www.breastpumpcomparisons.com/first-years-breast-pump-reviews.html#ecm)

Overall, reviews are generally higher for electric breast pumps. If you have the money, you may want to invest in one of those. However, other companies produce similar products, and some have higher reviews (even for the manual pumps). Check out all of your options before buying. Don’t just look at First Years!
